This weekend I celebrated my 55th birthday (July 21) - a milestone for me for sure. We went out of town for two days simply to unwind, re-connect and celebrate life, and personally to take into account who I want to be in the following 55 years. I had actually planned to write about the technique of re-invention for today's article. But the tragic events in Colorado on Friday could only make me think concerning the dozen lives cut short, that will not have the opportunity to shape their unique future.
On July 20, 2012 there were a terrible shooting in Colorado, whenever a young college PhD student decided to dress up much like the Joker and appear on the opening premier from the latest Batman movie; "The Dark Night Rises" and wearing black, he launched his attack first having a smoke bomb inside theatre, and after that opened fire with the assault rifle, shotgun, etc - he killed 12 on that day, leaving others critically wounded, 70 people in all were shot. So, in essence it turned out the worst shooting in US history. Rocksteady's developers looked at Arkham Asylum as 'practice' from the time the Arkham City project was underway. Considered as the best ever superhero game, Asylum was the 2009 Game of the Year. However, in comparison to Arkham City, it appears as though a demo - a draft or possibly a blueprint for the most amazing Batman and superhero popular tv shows in 60s and 70s game ever created. Anytime something tragic happens similar to this, everyone searches for blame, or attempt to be the better choice of computer. The anti-gun rights activists are outside in full force needing to bring that into the national discussion. Surely, there will be people that will bring up the violence on TV, game titles, comic books, and also at the movies, as I have here today. Some long-standing movies, most of them very violent have almost a cult following, sometimes that can be a positive thing for branding, and big bucks with the box office, maybe it can turn into a real negative, as well as in this situation a tragedy. As I said, I'm like a little cynical on this page, because I realize we can will no longer trust the news, nor the patrons who clothe themselves with riot gear and armed to the teeth to look start to see the latest Batman movie. Needless to say, you'll find challenges in Gotham city, who would've thought? Please consider all this and think onto it.
